To honor Nintendo’s beloved monster-ridden role-playing game, The Pokémon Company is hosting Pokémon Day, a celebratory virtual event, and as exclusively revealed to Billboard, Post Malone has been confirmed to be the headline artist for the musical festivities.

A trailer for the event has been shared on the Pokemon official YouTube channel, where the set will be streamed, features a cartoon version of Post Malone.

In a statement, the hit-maker said: “I’ve been a Pokemon fan for a long time, so the opportunity to headline the Pokemon Day concert celebrating 25 years is awesome.”

The grammy-nominated artist has remained tight-lipped regarding what fans can expect from his virtual show on Pokémon Day, though he had something to say regarding the matter, “They’ll just have to tune in and watch! The Pokémon team put in so much work — this is one of the coolest things I’ve been a part of.”

The “Circles” artist’s involvement comes after it was revealed that Katy Perry will be teaming up with the franchise on P25 Music, a new venture to mark the milestone.

The 36-year-old pop star and ‘Smile’ hit-maker said: “I love being a part of anything that is playful and is good storytelling and has really good messages to share with the world. Now having a child myself, I understand that it’s so important to play. This is a continued extension of who I am.”

Katy reminisced the “amazing” experience she had when she visited The Pokemon Cafe in Japan back in 2019.

“I was pregnant when I was there actually, little did I know! It was amazing. It brought up all these wonderful childhood memories. I’ve been going to Japan since I was 17 every year and have always really loved everything that’s been created there,” she said.
