Curren$y Drops New Album, Responds to Freddie Gibbs’ Diss Without Escalation

Curren$y released his new album on August 30, making it clear he is not stressed about Freddie Gibbs’ recent jabs. The former collaborators have been at odds since their 2018 project Fetti, which Gibbs claims Curren$y did little to promote. Gibbs addressed the tension on his own album, Alfredo 2 with The Alchemist, rapping, “Could’ve ran that Fetti by myself, bh, I’m the best with AI, yeah / Bh, keep it G, we like on part three, na / Go start a Chevy up, don’t start me, na” on the track Gas Station Sushi.

Curren$y responds on his album opener, Rich Uncle Intro: “Told me start a Chevy, but I brought the Rolls out / Used to be homies, tried to include me in their rollout / Woke up to animosity I ain’t even know about / I turned some ‘Office’ re-runs on and I zoned out.” His tone remains laid-back, emphasizing that he is not looking for conflict. He had previously addressed Gibbs’ shots in the comments on his producer Cash Fargo’s Instagram post, writing, “We ain’t trippin hahah send me some beats tho.”

Gibbs has spoken publicly about the feud, noting in The Butcher Block Podcast, “Na stopped texting back, stopped calling back,” regarding his efforts to involve Curren$y in the Fetti rollout. “But the na was my homie before the fact. But with the motherfing business st, motherf**er just looked down on me.”

While fans may have hoped for a heated response, Curren$y keeps his approach measured, focusing on his craft rather than prolonging drama. Both artists continue to release high-quality music, but a Fetti sequel appears unlikely for now. The feud remains a footnote amid a broader body of work that highlights their individual talent and ongoing creative output.
