Dr. Dre’s Father Reveals Details Of Strained Relationship With Son
Dr. Dre’s Father Reveals Details Of Strained Relationship With Son! Since news of divorce with his estranged wife of 24 years Nicole Young broke out, Dr. Dre’s name and his family business has been all over the blogs. Details of his personal life have become headlines with his family members speaking out about the hip hop billionaire. Dr. Dre’s eldest daughter recently revealed how she hasn’t seen her Father in almost 17 years. According to Page Six, it has now been revealed that the Hip Hop mogul has a not so good relationship with several other members of his family.
In an interview with Page Six, the rapper’s father, Mr. Theodore Young, claims his relationship with his son is strained. He added that they haven’t seen each other in years.
“I haven’t seen Andre since his grandfather died and I can’t even remember when that was,” he said. “We have no relationship. My other sons love me. They tell me they love me. But coming from where I come from, most young men like Andre who have a big success don’t give a damn about their dad.”
Dre’s parents reportedly split soon after his birth. Verna, Dr. Dre’s mother, who got pregnant at the age of 16, allegedly left Theodore shortly after Dre’s birth citing abuse allegations, something his Theodore denies. Dre was raised by his grandmother and mother. “His grandmother raised him,” Young said. “His mother and grandmother sprinkled a whole lot of salt on me.”
Last month, LaTanya Young Dre’s eldest daughter claimed she hasn’t heard from her father in 17 years. LaTanya is one of three children Dr Dre fathered with Lisa Johnson his former girlfriend along with 36-year-old Latoya and 35-year-old Ashley. LaTanya blamed Nicole for standing in the way of their relationship.
“She was very standoffish and mysterious,” she told The Daily Mail. “I got the impression she didn’t care to know any of us.” Still, LaTanya insisted she just wants to have Dre in her life.
“Money is not what I want, I feel better doing it on my own,” she said. “I really just want to have closure. I just want to be able to spend time with my father.”
Dre, who was recently hospitalized after suffering brain aneurysm, is yet to respond to his father’s claims.
