Atlanta Honors Rich Homie Quan with Emotional Trap Music Museum Exhibit

Fans and the city of Atlanta are celebrating Rich Homie Quan in a powerful way. The Trap Music Museum has unveiled a new exhibit dedicated to the late rapper’s life and musical legacy, nearly a year after his tragic death at age 34.

The exhibit is now open to the public. It celebrates Quan’s influence on Southern hip-hop and the city that helped shape his career. Family members, friends, and longtime collaborators attended the unveiling over the weekend, paying tribute to an artist who left an indelible mark on Atlanta’s music scene.

Quan’s father, Corey Lamar, expressed deep emotion during the event. “I’m ecstatic, sad that it has to be this way, but grateful for him to be acknowledged,” Lamar told WGXA News. “Not only my son, but my best friend — not only my best friend, but my business partner. We had a great relationship, father and son. Quan didn’t make moves without me, and I didn’t make moves without him.”

The city of Atlanta has also honored Quan with three official proclamations, including Rich Homie Quan Day and Rich in Spirit Day. These recognitions highlight his contributions to music, culture, and the Atlanta community. His final project, Legacy of Hits, was released posthumously, showcasing the music he left behind for his fans.

Rich Homie Quan, born Dequantes Devontay Lamar, was a cornerstone of Atlanta’s hip-hop movement. He gained national attention in the early 2010s with breakout singles such as “Type of Way” and “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh).” His collaboration with Young Thug on Rich Gang’s “Lifestyle” became a defining anthem of the era, blending melody and storytelling that shaped modern trap music.

Quan passed away on September 5, 2024. His girlfriend, Amber Williams, made the emergency call. An autopsy later revealed his death resulted from the combined effects of fentanyl, alprazolam, codeine, and promethazine. Authorities ruled it accidental.

The Trap Music Museum’s tribute now stands as a lasting reminder of Quan’s creative energy and impact. It showcases his rise from Atlanta’s neighborhoods to international recognition, featuring personal memorabilia, unreleased photos, and interactive installations that tell his story.
