A$AP Rocky’s “Don’t Be Dumb” Debuts at No. 1

After nearly eight years of anticipation, A$AP Rocky finally released his long-awaited album Don’t Be Dumb, marking hip-hop’s first major release of the year. The project debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, reflecting strong first-week sales and streaming performance. His partner Rihanna expressed her excitement on social media, sharing the moment with fans.
According to reports, Don’t Be Dumb sold 123,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. This fell short of initial projections of 200,000 units, which were based largely on anticipated vinyl shipments. The lower-than-expected debut is attributed to many vinyl sales not yet being shipped. Updated projections earlier in the week had set the first-week estimate at 119,000 units, making the final tally slightly higher than expected. Runners-up ENHYPEN and Bad Bunny posted comparable numbers, each around 121,000 units.
Rihanna took to Twitter to celebrate A$AP Rocky’s achievement, writing, “Just me here to let yall know my baby daddy got the NUMBER 1 ALBUM!!! Aaahhhhhh hah! DONT BE DUMB!!!” Her post drew attention amid ongoing discussions about Rocky’s relationship and public interactions with other artists.
Streaming played a significant role in the album’s success. Of the 123,000 first-week units, 76,000 came from streaming, totaling 78 million on-demand streams—Rocky’s personal best. Physical sales, including vinyl and CDs, contributed 47,000 units.
Don’t Be Dumb was released in multiple formats to maximize reach. These included a standard 15-track LP, a 15-track CD, a cassette, digital editions, and streaming versions with two additional tracks. Deluxe CD box sets included merchandise, and the album featured over a dozen vinyl variants. The extra digital tracks are “I Smoked Away My Brain (I’m God x Demons)” with Clams Casino and Imogen Heap, and “FLACKITO JOYDE” with Tokischa.
The debut positions A$AP Rocky at a strong start for 2026. Fans have waited years for this release, and the album’s success demonstrates both his lasting appeal and the impact of strategic physical and digital releases. Don’t Be Dumb also sets the stage for Disc 2, which is expected to follow in the coming months.
This milestone marks a notable moment for both Rocky and Rihanna, confirming the album’s strong commercial and cultural impact.
