NLE Choppa, Now NLE The Great, Addresses Beef With NBA YoungBoy and Shares Diss Track Inspiration

NLE Choppa, who recently rebranded as NLE The Great, opened up about his complicated relationship with NBA YoungBoy and his motivations behind his new diss track, “KO,” in a Rolling Stone interview published Monday. Despite the provocative lyrics, he says he still holds respect and affection for YoungBoy.
“In the past, it’s already been escalated. Personally, we’ve already had issues. But some of the things that were said… it can be viewed as personal. It’s more so speaking to something that’s controlling him. It’s speaking to what has possession of him, and I love him,” NLE The Great explained. He expressed a desire to reconcile, saying, “I would love to give that brother a hug. I would love to shake hands with that brother, I would love to make music with him personally, but how could I if he won’t?”
The rapper emphasized that his diss track is part of a larger conversation and not purely personal. “Do I have worries about things being personal outside of this? I feel he got bigger fish to fry. I’m just playing a small role in it by using my voice,” he added.
The conflict between NLE The Great and NBA YoungBoy began when NLE released “KO” on Halloween. The track samples the same Dennis Edwards song that 2Pac used for “Hit Em Up,” signaling a high-profile diss. The lyrics include lines such as, “YoungBoy, what? This the big boy league/ I put one up in your gut under the Jesus piece/ Last thing that I heard was ‘Jesus, please’/ Had me looking at the devil like ‘This is your king.’”
NLE The Great also confirmed that “KO” precedes the release of a new album scheduled in the coming months. When asked about fan expectations, he stated simply, “Number one. That’s all. That’s it. Number one in the whole world, globally, number one.”
While the diss track has fueled tension, NLE The Great maintains that he hopes to reconcile with NBA YoungBoy and remains open to collaboration. The situation continues to capture the attention of fans and the hip-hop community as both artists navigate the beef and upcoming projects.
