Swizz Beatz and Timbaland Announce Return of Verzuz with Cash Money vs No Limit Battle

Swizz Beatz and Timbaland have officially confirmed that their iconic Verzuz battle series is making a major return this month, and it’s coming back with a historic matchup. The producers announced that Verzuz will relaunch on October 25 at ComplexCon in Las Vegas, featuring a head-to-head battle between two of hip-hop’s most legendary Southern rap labels: Cash Money Records and No Limit Records.

“IT’S OFFICIAL. Verzuz is BACK — live at #ComplexCon Las Vegas. Cash Money VERZUZ No Limit Celebration,” read the official announcement shared across Verzuz social media pages. “One stage. Two legendary iconic labels. History is about to be made! October 25. Live streaming details coming soon.”

While details about which artists will perform remain under wraps, anticipation is already building. Both Cash Money and No Limit have shaped hip-hop history and launched some of the genre’s biggest names.

Cash Money Records, founded by brothers Birdman and Slim, became a powerhouse in the late 1990s and early 2000s, home to artists such as Lil Wayne, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Juvenile, B.G., Mannie Fresh, and Tyga. The label helped define modern hip-hop’s commercial sound and produced a long list of chart-topping albums and singles.

On the other side, Master P’s No Limit Records dominated the late 1990s with its signature street anthems and bold independent business model. The label introduced Mystikal, Silkk The Shocker, Mia X, C-Murder, TRU, and the late Soulja Slim. Even Snoop Dogg joined No Limit after leaving Death Row Records, releasing fan favorites like “Down For My N’s,” “Lay Low,” and “Bitch Please.”

The Cash Money vs No Limit battle will be the first Verzuz event in over three years. The last official battle took place in June 2022 between R&B stars Omarion and Mario.

The break in the series followed a legal dispute between Swizz Beatz, Timbaland, and Triller, the platform that acquired Verzuz in 2021. The producers sued Triller in August 2022 for $28 million, claiming the company failed to make promised payments from the sale. The lawsuit was settled a month later for an undisclosed amount, with reports indicating that the deal expanded ownership stakes for artists who were part of the Verzuz network.

The Verzuz format, which started during the COVID-19 lockdowns, became one of the most successful online music events in history. It featured legendary matchups such as The Lox vs Dipset, Gucci Mane vs Jeezy, and Gladys Knight vs Patti LaBelle.

With its return at ComplexCon, Verzuz is set to once again unite fans and artists in celebrating hip-hop culture. The Cash Money vs No Limit event promises not only nostalgia but also a showcase of two dynasties that changed the direction of Southern rap forever.

Streaming details and performer lineups are expected to be announced soon, but one thing is certain: October 25 will be a milestone moment for hip-hop and a massive comeback for Verzuz.
