Clipse’s Let God Sort Em Out Wins Praise as 2025’s Best Rap Album, Freddie Gibbs Weighs In

Clipse has delivered what many consider the best rap album of 2025 with Let God Sort Em Out. The Virginia duo’s long-awaited project has dominated fan discussions, and now Freddie Gibbs is adding his voice to the praise.

During an interview on The Joe Budden Podcast, the Gary, Indiana rapper called the album one of the most inspiring works he has heard this year outside of his own Alfredo 2. Gibbs singled out “F.I.C.O.” featuring Stove God Cooks as his current favorite track. “That sh*t hard… That’s probably one,” he said. The Alchemist, who joined the conversation, added his own endorsement, calling the record “immaculate.”

After hearing the album in full, Gibbs reached out to Pusha T directly. “I hit Pusha T like, ‘That sht hard my n***,’” he revealed. Gibbs also made it clear that his bond with King Push remains strong. “The energy always reciprocated there so… I love working with him.” He didn’t stop there, showing respect for Malice’s sharp lyricism as well.

Joe Budden called Malice his rapper of the year, a claim Gibbs backed up while still reminding listeners of his own standing. “Yup, between me and him,” he said.

Let God Sort Em Out is being mentioned alongside Gibbs’ Alfredo 2 as one of the year’s best. Both records have strong Grammy potential in the Best Rap Album category. Released just days apart in July, the albums also made a strong commercial impact. Clipse debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 with 112,000 copies sold, while Gibbs and Alchemist entered at number twelve with 37,000 units.

Gibbs has more music in the pipeline. In a recent Apple Music chat, he confirmed that he and KAYTRANADA are working on a full collaborative album after linking up in the studio earlier this year. “I was with KAYTRANADA a couple months ago and we made a new song, so I was like let’s just make a whole album like this,” he said. A track with Ty Dolla $ign is expected to serve as the first single, though no release date has been shared.

With Let God Sort Em Out setting the standard and Alfredo 2 strengthening Gibbs’ catalog, 2025 is shaping up to be a defining year for both Clipse and Freddie Gibbs. Fans will be watching closely as award season approaches and as new projects roll out.
