Justin Laboy Shares Behind-the-Scenes Look at Kanye West’s ‘Bully’ Album

Justin Laboy has given fans a rare look inside the creative process behind Kanye West’s upcoming album Bully. In a new video released on Wednesday, the media personality captured footage of West in the studio alongside an impressive lineup of collaborators, including Playboi Carti, Roddy Ricch, Peso Pluma, Ty Dolla Sign, and The Game. The video showcases Ye deeply engaged in the production process, sparking excitement among fans eager for the project’s release.
During a car ride with Laboy, West reflected on his approach to sharing music, emphasizing that he prefers letting his work speak for itself rather than engaging in exclusive industry events. “I would rather see my work than for it to just be just an exclusive dinner or something. I’ve been to those dinners before, like all the rich dinners. They just boring to me now,” he explained.
The behind-the-scenes glimpse has fueled anticipation for Bully, with fans dissecting every frame for hints about the album’s direction. On YouTube, one user expressed excitement about Playboi Carti’s involvement, commenting, “Yoooo, Carti’s there in that studio…hope he’s on the album.” Others, however, voiced concerns about West’s recent behavior on social media, with one fan writing, “I hope Ye stops the negativity on those tweets and changes his life for the better.”
When Is Kanye West Releasing Bully?
West has suggested that Bully will drop on his daughter North’s birthday in June. However, given his history of unpredictable release schedules, many fans remain skeptical about whether he’ll stick to that date.
Meanwhile, West’s social media presence has continued to stir controversy. Earlier this month, he went on a series of inflammatory rants on X (formerly Twitter), where he described himself as a Nazi, praised Adolf Hitler, and took shots at Taylor Swift. He also publicly defended Diddy, who is facing multiple lawsuits, further fueling criticism.
Adding to the controversy, West paid for a Super Bowl commercial to promote his Yeezy merchandise website—only to later start selling T-shirts featuring swastikas. The move led Shopify to ban him from its platform. In a statement to CBS MoneyWatch, Shopify explained, “All merchants are responsible for following the rules of our platform. This merchant did not engage in authentic commerce practices and violated our terms, so we removed them from Shopify.”
West briefly deactivated his X account in the wake of the backlash but returned just days later, resuming his posts on controversial topics.
While Bully is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated albums of the year, West’s recent actions have left fans divided. Some remain excited about his musical output, while others worry that his ongoing controversies will overshadow his artistry once again.
