Funkmaster Flex Speaks On Drake & Meek Mill Beef!

Funkmaster Flex Speaks On Drake & Meek Mill Beef! During a recent appearance on Rap Radar’s “Cigar Talk,” Funkmaster Flex opened up about his involvement in the Drake and Meek Mill‘s infamous 2015 beef. Explaining how much he wanted to be part of History, the Hot 97 radio host had this to say, “I gotta be honest, I kind of bit that whole routine, or my involvement. I was copying, watching Red Alert and MC Shan and KRS-One…And I watched people throw the flame on it and I said, ‘If I throw the flame on it, this can be one of those.’…I ain’t gonna lie, I wanted to be in the history book like Red Alert and Shan and KRS-One.”

The DJ found himself in the middle of the Drake an Meek Mill feud when he famously played a reference track for Drake’s “10 Bands” on air to provide additional proof that Meek Mill’s accusations of the Canadian artist having ghostwriters were true.

The move would see Drake swiftly respond with diss tracks “Charged Up” and “Back to Back,” only in a few days. These would eventually be met with Meek’s “Wanna Know” following a failed premiere on Hot 97. Flex said “You know what, Meek was always in a cheerful phase, he wasn’t overly stressed. Because I think he wasn’t. It was funny…when I didn’t have the record, I wanna say I feel maybe me and Meek Mill must have had miscommunication on the song, or what it was gonna be.” If what Flex says is anything to go by, the failed premiere was attributed to a miscommunication between himself and the Philadelphia rapper regarding the date.
