TMZ spoke with Shmurda’s mother, Leslie Pollard, who is currently counting down the hours until her son’s release. Bobby’s mother told the outlet that her son’s release day festivities will include a quiet dinner with his family. She also added that after the dinner and quality time with family, the 26 year-old-rapper is also looking to hit the ground running by working on some new music.

Bobby Shmurda’s conditional release date was previously delivered to February 23, which is 10 months before the top of his sentence. After he was denied parole by a judge, the Time Allowance Committee overturned the ruling and granted Shmurda conditional release as a result of his good behavior and his participation in programs while behind bars.

Initially arrested in 2014, Shmurda found himself behind bars on gang conspiracy, gun and drug charges. The Brooklyn native would plead guilty to 4th-degree conspiracy and 2nd-degree criminal weapons possession two years later and was sentenced to seven years in prison. While behind bars, he was also accused of trying to smuggle a “sharp metal object” into Rikers Island.

According to his conditional release, the rapper will remain on parole until 2026.

Reacting to her son’s conditional release in an Instagram post last month, Shmurda’s mother wrote

“I am counting down just wishing we could run straight to February right quick,” she wrote at the time. “I can’t wait to hug my child… It ha[s] been almost a year; anxiety is getting the best of me.”.

Shmurda’s ally and collaborator Rowdy Rebel, who was released at the end of last year, also has high hopes for Shmurda’s impending release, including a possible performance together at Summer Jam 2021.

“We definitely gon’ show up to Summer Jam,” Rebel told Hot 97. “I normally wouldn’t speak on my brother’s behalf, but i do know my brother ain’t gonna miss Summer Jam… Some things are just mandatory, and Summer Jam is mandatory.”
