Founding Member Of The Roots Malik B Dies, Rapper Malik B who is one of the founding members of The Roots has dies at 47 years old.

Malik B who was a rapper part of the legendary hip hop group The Roots has died at age 47. Malik had been one of the founding members of the group and has highly contributed to the success of the groups and was considered as one of the greats.

The Roots posted a tribute message on Instagram after the news of his death came out. “It is with heavy hearts and tearful eyes that we regretfully inform you of the passing of our beloved brother Malik Abdul Baset. May he be remembered for his devotion to Islam, His loving brotherhood and his innovation as one of the most gifted MCs of all time. We ask that you please respect his family to our time of mourning such a great loss”.

Malik B is a Philadelphia native and has been part of The Roots from the year they started in 1987. He has been an integral member that has been part of the groups first 4 albums. His most recent work and contribution was on their 208 album titled Rising Down. He has released 2 solo albums, one alone titled “Street Assault” in 2005 and one collaborative work with Mr. Green in 2015 titled “Unpredictable”.
