Obie Trice Returns to Music with Greenback Records and New Single “TBH”

Detroit rapper Obie Trice has announced his return to music, signing a deal with Conor McGregor’s Greenback Records. The announcement comes alongside the release of his new single, “TBH,” which dropped on Friday, September 12. Trice joins labelmates including Xzibit and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony in a move that signals a major comeback for the veteran artist.
While neither Obie nor McGregor has made an official comment about the partnership, McGregor shared a video welcoming Trice to the label. Fans are also anticipating a full-length project from Obie, his first in over six years. His last major release was Second Round’s On Me, which came out through Shady Records and Interscope in 2006.
Trice has faced personal and legal challenges over the past several years. He was arrested in 2022 for allegedly harassing a former girlfriend. Deputy Chief Curt Lawson of the West Bloomfield Police Department stated that after their breakup, Trice allegedly sent threatening messages to the woman and her relatives, repeatedly showing up uninvited at her home. The repeated contact led to his arrest. He is currently held at West Bloomfield Jail on a $10,000 bond for a misdemeanor charge.
Earlier legal issues also impacted his career. In June 2025, Trice was sentenced to 90 days in Oakland County Jail after pleading guilty to possession of an unregistered firearm. He received credit for five days served. In December 2019, he was arrested following a shooting incident in which his girlfriend’s 18-year-old son was accidentally injured during a domestic dispute. Original charges included aggravated felony assault with a firearm and contempt of court for violating a protective order, but the felony was later reduced to misdemeanor possession of an unregistered gun.
Despite these challenges, Obie Trice’s return with Greenback Records and his new single “TBH” marks a fresh chapter in his career. Fans are eager to hear the rapper’s first major release in nearly two decades and see how he continues to leave his mark on hip hop.
