The ‘Coming 2 America’ Track list Features Megan Thee Stallion, YG, Davido, Nasty C + More! The much anticipated Coming 2 America comedy officially premiered last week on Amazon Prime Video. The film that stars Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall has also seen its official soundtrack released. Until its official release, we have been treated to cuts like “Black and White” by Nasty C and Ari Lennox and “I’m A King” by Bobby Sessions and Megan Thee Stallion. YG and Big Sean’s “Go Big” is the latest single in which the rappers take turns flexing a portion of the soundtrack.
The original Coming to America tracklist boasted songs by The Cover Girls, Sister Sledge, Chico DeBarge, Mel & Kim among others. In July 1988, the System’s title track, “Coming to America,” which is co-written by Nile Rodgers, peaked at No. 91 on the Billboard Hot 100. While names like Teyana Taylor, Tracy Morgan, Leslie Jones, Wesley Snipes and more join the cast this time around, there are several artists who will see a recurrence of their roles such as James Earl Jones (King Jaffe, Shari Headley (Queen Lisa), Joffer), John Amos (Cleo McDowell) and Louie Anderson (Maurice).
While Coming 2 America will be starring old favorites namely; Eddie Murphy, Shari Headly, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones and John Amos, South Africa’s Nomzamo Mbatha joins the cast as a royal groomer by the name Mirembe. Rumors of an appearance by Afrobeats superstar Davido have also emerged.
“Rhythms of Zamunda: Music Inspired By Coming 2 America” is a 16-track album featuring Nasty C, Diamond Platnumz, Prince Kaybee, Tiwa Savage, Fally Ipupa, Sha Sha, Tekno among others.
Inspired by the Black Panther themed compilation album the album is reportedly a fusion of American hip-hop and a number of different African genres. The first track of the album is Nasty C and Ari Lennox‘s “Black and White” whose romantic music video was recently released.
