A$AP Rocky’s “Don’t Be Dumb” Poised for Massive First-Week Sales

A$AP Rocky is off to a strong start with his fourth studio album, Don’t Be Dumb, as early projections suggest it could top the Billboard 200. According to Chart Predictions, the Harlem rapper’s project is expected to move at least 200,000 units in its first week. Of that total, 70,000 to 90,000 are projected to come from stream equivalent albums (SEA), while 100,000 units are expected to be physical sales. These numbers align with a previous report that Rocky had already sold 130,000 copies prior to the official release on January 16, largely driven by a variety of vinyl offerings.
If these projections hold, Don’t Be Dumb would surpass Rocky’s previous first-week sales. His 2015 album, AT.LONG.LAST.A$AP, holds the previous high at 146,000 units, while 2013’s LONG.LIVE.A$AP sold 139,000. TESTING recorded 75,000 units, and his 2011 debut, LIVE.LOVE.A$AP, sold 15,000. For Rocky to exceed 200,000 units with Don’t Be Dumb marks a significant commercial comeback, especially after nearly eight years without a studio album.
The 17-track project has received praise for its diversity and focus. Rocky moves between different production styles and keeps the energy consistent throughout the album. Features play a major role, with standout appearances from Brent Faiyaz on “STAY HERE 4 LIFE” and Doechii on “ROBBERY.” Tyler, The Creator contributes to “FISH N STEAK (WHAT IT IS),” while Sauce Walka appears on “STOP SNITCHING.” The collaborations complement Rocky’s signature style, elevating the overall project.
Despite delays and earlier concerns about demand, Don’t Be Dumb proves Rocky’s influence in 2026 hip-hop. The combination of strong first-week projections, high-profile features, and varied production underscores his comeback as both commercially and creatively successful. Fans can expect the album to set a high benchmark for rap releases this year.
