Nelly’s Old Group St. Lunatics Set for 2026 Comeback with Metro Boomin

Nelly has confirmed that his old group, the St. Lunatics, will return with a new album in 2026, executive produced by hip-hop heavyweight Metro Boomin. The announcement came during Nelly’s 2025 Black and White Ball on December 14, where he energized attendees with the news.
“St. Lunatics, 2026, executive produced by Metro Boomin,” Nelly said. “St. Louis, we in the building! We turning up 2026 one time!” The project will be the group’s first release in 25 years, following their 2001 debut, Free City, which came shortly after Nelly’s breakthrough solo album, Country Grammar.
The upcoming album follows the St. Lunatics’ surprise reunion at the 2024 American Music Awards, where Nelly, Murphy Lee, Spud City, Kyjuan, and Slo Down performed fan favorites including “Air Force Ones,” “Ride Wit Me,” and “Hot In Herre.” Notably absent from the reunion was group member Ali, who had earlier filed a $50 million lawsuit against Nelly and the rest of the group over unpaid royalties from Country Grammar. The lawsuit was later withdrawn, and the court sanctioned the attorneys involved for pursuing claims deemed legally unfounded.
It remains uncertain whether Ali and Nelly have reconciled or if Ali will participate in the creation of the new album. Fans are eagerly awaiting details on the project, including the title, tracklist, and potential collaborations, as anticipation builds for one of hip-hop’s most anticipated comebacks.
This return positions the St. Lunatics to reconnect with long-time fans while introducing their sound to a new generation, with Metro Boomin’s influence expected to bring a contemporary edge to their classic St. Louis style.
