Bad Bunny Extends Puerto Rico Residency with Emotional Farewell

Bad Bunny has announced an additional show for his residency at San Juan’s José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in Puerto Rico. Originally set to conclude after 30 performances, the extra show will take place on September 20 and is exclusively for Puerto Rico residents. The artist captioned the announcement with “Una más,” signaling one final celebration with his home audience.

The residency, which began in July, has exceeded expectations both artistically and economically. DJ Akademiks reported that the residency has generated a $713 million impact on the island, more than four times the initial projection.

At his second to last show, Bad Bunny delivered a heartfelt message to fans. Tearfully, he said, “This has been an unforgettable experience. Thank you for everything. When I was little, I dreamed of doing this. I knew that anything I worked for with passion I could make happen, but all of this surpassed my own dreams. Thanks for so much love. Thank you for putting me here. I will thank you for my entire life.”

He continued, “As the song says… we need to love each other as much as we can. Value every minute, every second that God gifts us. It doesn’t matter what issues you have. The best answer will always be love. Love will always win.”

Earlier this month, Bad Bunny explained in an i-D interview why he chose not to tour in the United States. He cited concerns over fans potentially being detained by ICE, emphasizing that his decision was not driven by hate. “There were many reasons why I didn’t show up in the U.S., and none of them were out of hate — I’ve performed there many times. All of [the shows] have been successful. All of them have been magnificent. I’ve enjoyed connecting with Latinos who have been living in the U.S.,” he said.

The additional show marks the closing chapter of a historic residency that has solidified Bad Bunny’s connection with Puerto Rico while leaving a lasting impact on both fans and the island’s economy.
