As the team got a new principal and had been moving to Brooklyn, the team needed to rebuild their team and wanted to make it stronger. This was so it matched their new rich, owner, Mikhail Prokhorov’s brand. Many players such as Lebron James , Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh were all free agents and could potentially be signed into new teams.

Jay-Z was part of the Brooklyn Nets recruitment team and had many ways of trying to lure players in by suggesting them many opportunities for them in the entertainment industry. The NBA team and the coach Avery Johnson were reportedly thrilled about having Jay-Z on board as he also knew Lebron personally.

The ‘Empire State Of Mind’ rapper pitched at many great players to join their team. The rapper was reported to have a 15 minute private meeting with Lebron. Unfortunately even after the effort and the meeting Lebron did not join his team.
