21 Savage Steps In to End High-Profile Rap Feuds

21 Savage has emerged as a key peacemaker in hip-hop, revealing in a new interview with Big Bank on Perspektives With Bank how he helped mediate conflicts between some of rap’s biggest names. At 33, Savage detailed his involvement in disputes including Drake and Metro Boomin’s and NBA YoungBoy and Lil Durk’s, though he admitted not all efforts were successful.

One of the most notable reconciliations he highlighted was between Young Thug and YFN Lucci. Their tensions reportedly dated back to 2015 and involved allegations of violence and issues between their affiliates, mirroring other high-stakes conflicts in the rap scene. After years of separation, the two recently reconciled and released albums, UY SCUTI and ALREADY LEGEND., on the same day, even appearing on a track together.

Young Thug explained their decision to end the feud, emphasizing personal growth and the value of community. He said, “We came a long way from the trenches. We got rid of our problems. I hope y’all find a way to get rid of the problems y’all have in y’all life… I did that for Atlanta, for the community, for the city. We tired of losing people for nothing.” YFN Lucci shared a similar perspective, noting the personal losses and time away from family caused by the conflict. He said, “Coming home, it’s like, damn, what the hell can a n**** do to bro? We gone’ keep doing that sht and end up back in jail or one of our homies dead or one of us dead? Or we gone’ fix this sht and make this sh*t look good for the A?”

21 Savage confirmed that he played a pivotal role in guiding both artists toward reconciliation. He shared that he reached out to Lucci while he was still in prison and received a message indicating willingness to sit down with Thug. Once Lucci returned, Savage encouraged Thug to feature him on a song, helping solidify their renewed connection.

Savage described his motivation as simple and pragmatic: observing that ongoing conflict would only lead to jail time or death. “I fck with this n*** and I fuck with this n****, sh*t, try and put them together,” he said. His efforts highlight the influence he holds in the rap community and his commitment to preventing violence among peers.

This intervention underscores a growing trend in hip-hop where established artists act as mediators, prioritizing collaboration and community stability over longstanding rivalries. 21 Savage’s role demonstrates that even in a competitive industry, diplomacy and guidance can lead to meaningful change.
