Drake and Playboi Carti Fans Get a New Leak: “Slide In (K9)”

Drake and Playboi Carti’s only official collaboration, “Pain 1993,” released on Dark Lane Demo Tapes in 2020, divided fans. Some praised the synergy, while others were less impressed. Since then, fans have been eager for another joint project. A recent leak suggests the wait may not be over.
Earlier this month, a snippet of an unreleased demo titled “Slide In” surfaced during an Adin Ross livestream. Now, a higher-quality version, also known as “K9,” has made its way to social media, spotted by users including @plottttwisttttt on Twitter. The track may not remain online for long, but it offers a glimpse into the duo’s creative process.
The track opens with a vocal sample flip of Luther Vandross’ “A House Is Not A Home,” which listeners may also recognize from Kanye West, Twista, and Jamie Foxx’s “Slow Jamz.” The beat combines drill-adjacent drums with airy synth pads, creating a wavy backdrop for Drake’s vocals. His performance remains smooth and melodic, fitting the track’s atmospheric vibe.
After roughly 1:30, the beat shifts dramatically. Playboi Carti, also known as King Vamp, takes over with a darker, faster, and more sinister production. This section runs for about three minutes, with no contribution from Drake. The two-part structure mirrors previous collaborations in Drake’s catalog, such as “Life Is Good” with Future, and recalls the dynamic of Carti’s “Shoota” with Lil Uzi Vert.
Fans are speculating whether “Slide In (K9)” will appear on Drake’s upcoming album ICEMAN or if it will remain an unofficial leak. Meanwhile, the timing of their collaborations has fueled discussion. Some theorize that Drake’s and Carti’s schedules, or even rival Kendrick Lamar’s appearances on Carti’s MUSIC album, may have delayed official releases. Others see it as coincidence.
Regardless, the leak offers a rare insight into the chemistry between Drake and Playboi Carti. Fans may still get an official follow-up to “Pain 1993,” or they might hear a Carti version of Drake’s “No Face.” Either way, the new snippet keeps anticipation high for the next collaboration from these two influential artists.
