Nicki Minaj Confirms She’s Not Retiring Amid JAY-Z Drama

Nicki Minaj reassured fans that she is not retiring, reversing a statement that caused widespread concern just 24 hours earlier. The dramatic back-and-forth unfolded on social media and X Spaces, highlighting both her ongoing feud with JAY-Z and her excitement for new music.

Yesterday, Nicki posted a tweet that seemed to signal the end of her music career: “Ok I’m not going to put out the album anymore. No more music. Hope you’re happy now [JAY-Z]. Bye, Barbz. Love you for life.” Fans immediately feared that her sixth studio album might be shelved.

However, during an X Spaces session early this morning, Nicki clarified her intentions. She described herself as the “conductor” of an emotional rollercoaster, saying, “When I want it to slow down, I slow it down. When I need it to speed up to give everyone a heart attack, I speed it up. But right before everyone thinks they’re about to go ‘Poof!,’ I press the brakes.” She added that she explains herself to her fans, not others.

Nicki confirmed that her sixth studio album is still on track. She expressed pride in the project, calling it one of the “top two” in her discography. She described it as a reintroduction of herself to fans, focusing not just on sound but on the person behind the music.

“Just know that I’m very happy with you guys and with the next chapter. Nothing is going to stop that. We are in the best musical place I’ve ever been in, ever in my life. And just complete musical clarity,” she said.

She also revealed she recently finished a “beautiful new song,” which could potentially serve as the lead single. Plans for a global tour, including possible stops in Johannesburg, were also discussed. The album could be released as early as March 2026.

The initial retirement claim appears linked to ongoing tension with JAY-Z, Roc Nation, and Desiree Perez. Nicki accused them of mishandling a tour and album request, writing, “They came BEGGING the QUEEN for a tour & album & I said NOPE!!!!! LMFAO.” She alleged that Perez would take the fall alone for alleged wrongdoings, calling it a “conspiracy” and warning of “civil rights violations.”

Despite the public conflict, Nicki remains focused on her music. Her clarification has calmed fans, known as the Barbz, who were worried about losing one of hip-hop’s most influential voices.

Fans can expect her sixth album to be a personal, introspective project, marking a new chapter in her career. With a potential lead single and hints at a global tour, Nicki is signaling that her music career is very much alive, despite the recent social media drama.

The Barbz no longer need to worry—Nicki Minaj is staying, and the music is coming.
