Birdman Travels With NBA YoungBoy to Oversee First Headlining Tour Since 2020

Birdman is accompanying NBA YoungBoy on his Make America Slime Again Tour to ensure the 25-year-old rapper avoids financial missteps on his first headlining tour since 2020. The North American tour kicked off in early September and will continue through November, ending in Seattle, Washington.

In a conversation with DJ Akademiks, shared on Instagram, Birdman explained his presence on the tour. “I’m not about to let my little bro f*ck the money up,” he said. “I love him… That’s why I’m out here.” He added, jokingly, that he has been feeling homesick but is committed to supporting YoungBoy.

Fans expressed mixed reactions online. Some praised Birdman’s guidance, with one commenting, “Birdman looking out for YB just like he did Wayne.” Others questioned his motives, pointing to Birdman’s history of managing artists’ finances. “Birdman done had his hands in these YN’s pockets for generations,” another user wrote.

Birdman has long emphasized his role in supporting the careers of artists he works with. On the 2021 Big Facts podcast, he claimed to have given hundreds of millions of dollars to Lil Wayne, Drake, and Nicki Minaj. “When Universal gave me a bag, brother, I could honestly say I gave Wayne about $400 to $500 million, Drake got about $500 million, and Nicki got about $300, $400 million out of my pocket,” he said, according to HipHopDX.

The Make America Slime Again Tour features 45 shows and supporting acts including DeeBaby, K3, Lil Dump, NoCap, Offset, and Toosii. The tour promotes YoungBoy’s eighth studio album, MASA, released in July, which includes collaborations with Playboi Carti and Mellow Rackz. In his characteristically prolific fashion, YoungBoy has already followed the album with the mixtape DeShawn.

Birdman’s presence underscores his continued influence and mentorship in hip-hop, guiding one of the genre’s most prolific young artists while helping safeguard his financial and professional future.
