Young Thug Alleges He Paid for Gunna’s No. 1 Album in Latest Jail Conversation Leak

More leaks of Young Thug’s jail conversations have surfaced online, with the latest recording making explosive claims about his former protégé Gunna. On Sunday, August 30, audio began circulating in which Thug alleged that he spent $50,000 on fake streams to push Gunna’s 2022 album DS4EVER to number one over The Weeknd’s Dawn FM.
In the five-minute conversation, Thug recounted a dispute over Gunna seeking a new label deal worth $20 million. He described a moment when Cash from Cash Money asked about Gunna’s status. Thug claimed he was willing to support Gunna financially, but admitted frustration with what he saw as unrealistic demands.
“So I told him, like, whatever you want, I’m going to give it to you,” Thug said. “Just on some brother shit. But I know you can’t get no $20 million check from no label. You’re not doing numbers like that. The number one album you just had right now, I paid for you to have that number one album. You didn’t honestly earn it over The Weeknd, my boy. I paid for that shit. I spent 50 extra grand buying streams for you.”
The audio also highlighted deeper issues between the two artists. Thug accused Gunna of exploiting young rappers by charging them $2,500 for opportunities, despite already being a millionaire under Thug’s mentorship. He expressed anger at what he viewed as betrayal, asking, “Why would you ever in your life take a dollar from my young boys?”
For Thug, the tension goes beyond business. He claimed he had always supported Gunna without taking a cut of his earnings, even manufacturing chart success to elevate his career. In his view, Gunna’s choices signaled a lack of loyalty and respect, weakening what was once seen as a brotherly bond.
The leak adds to a growing list of jailhouse recordings tied to Thug’s ongoing RICO case. Previous audios included conversations with 21 Savage and Lil Baby, along with allegations that Quality Control cut a deal with Scooter Braun without Lil Baby present.
As of now, Thug’s claims have not been verified. Neither Gunna nor The Weeknd have addressed the allegations. The conversation, however, has fueled debate across the hip-hop community about authenticity, loyalty, and the hidden costs of chart success.
