Travis Scott Teases JACKBOYS 2 Amid Growing Tension with Pusha T and Clipse

Much like the rollout leading up to UTOPIA, Travis Scott’s next project, JACKBOYS 2, is generating major buzz. While the energy surrounding this release isn’t weighed down by the heavy controversy that followed the 2021 Astroworld tragedy, it’s still making headlines for other reasons—most notably, a brewing rap beef with Pusha T.

Late last month, Pusha T reignited the drama by taking aim at Travis on “So Be It,” a promotional single for the upcoming Clipse reunion album Let God Sort Em Out, set to drop on July 11. In the track, Pusha didn’t hold back, rapping about a moment where Travis allegedly broke down in tears following his split from Kylie Jenner, the mother of his two children. Pusha also called out what he sees as a lack of loyalty from Travis, criticizing him for turning on friends and collaborators.

The bad blood didn’t stop at the song. Pusha T went on a media run, doubling down on his criticisms during interviews. His main point? He doesn’t respect Travis Scott—not just as an artist, but also as a person. The tension stems in part from Travis’ 2023 track “Meltdown,” featuring Drake, where Drake took shots at Pharrell Williams and Pusha T. According to Pusha, neither he nor Pharrell had heard Drake’s verse when Travis originally played the song for them.

Now, with Clipse’s album dropping in just days, speculation is mounting that Travis Scott may respond by releasing JACKBOYS 2 on the same day. This theory gained traction after Travis followed a parody X (formerly Twitter) account called Wurrco, known for posting satirical music news, after they jokingly claimed Travis would compete with Pusha T on release day.

Fans have been hungry for JACKBOYS 2, fueled by a steady stream of leaked snippets that circulated heavily during April and May. Although Travis has spent much of the past few months promoting various brand collaborations, he surprised fans late on June 30 with a new teaser on Instagram.

“JACKBOYS 2 [eight exploding head emojis melting face emoji] We shall eat soon,” he captioned the post. The teaser didn’t reveal much lyrically, but the production quality immediately grabbed attention. MIKE DEAN-inspired synths, distorted effects, and pounding drum patterns gave the preview a dark, grimy feel—reminiscent of Travis’s Days Before Rodeo era.

To build even more anticipation, Travis also revealed two potential album covers in the Instagram carousel. One of them pays direct homage to the original JACKBOYS project, continuing the aesthetic that fans loved back in 2019.

While an official release date for JACKBOYS 2 has yet to be confirmed, the mounting social media activity, combined with Travis’s cryptic posts, suggests something big is coming soon. Whether he’s planning to go head-to-head with Clipse on July 11 remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: fans are on the edge of their seats waiting to see how La Flame responds—both musically and lyrically.
