Wale is back in his bag. The Grammy-nominated rapper just dropped a fresh new track, “Where to Start” — the latest single off his much-anticipated eighth studio album, expected to arrive later this summer. The song, produced by Hollywood Cole, is out now via Def Jam Recordings.
This marks Wale’s second single of 2025, following “Blanco,” the moody, bluesy track he released in March. With “Where to Start,” he shifts gears, offering something smoother and more intimate. Built around a nostalgic sample of SWV’s ‘90s R&B classic “I’m So Into You,” the song finds Wale reflecting on the unexpected rush of falling for someone new — someone who challenges the way he thinks about love and connection.
“I don’t know where we’re going, but I just want to go until the end. I’m unthawing this heart that I never thought I’d ever use again,”he raps, in classic Wale fashion — poetic, personal, and emotionally layered.

According to Wale, the song is meant to capture the emotional high of new beginnings.
“‘Where to Start’ is the soundtrack to new love,” he says. “It’s about that excitement, that uncertainty, and the quiet hope that this might be something real. It’s also about feeling truly seen by someone — like they get you in ways you didn’t expect.”
The track arrives with a visualizer inspired in part by Netflix’s FOREVER — showing Wale and his love interest vibing at a cozy vinyl listening party, all smiles and soft moments as the connection unfolds.
After taking a short break from the spotlight, Wale made a strong comeback in 2023, signing with Def Jam and jumping on Odumodublvck’s “Blood On The Dance Floor,” which dominated the Nigerian charts for 8 weeks straight. Now, with new music rolling out and his classic The Album About Nothing turning 10 this year, it’s clear the DMV wordsmith is stepping into a new chapter — with heart, honesty, and heat.
