Lil Wayne has finally delivered his long-awaited album Tha Carter VI, and the tracklist includes a surprising feature that has fans buzzing. U2 frontman Bono appears on the anthemic track “The Days,” which was first previewed during a promo for the NBA Finals.
On “The Days,” Wayne embraces his veteran status in the rap game with lines like: “I ain’t getting younger, but I’m getting better / No time to waste that’s another man’s treasure / They say every dog has his day.”
Bono, no stranger to working with Hip Hop heavyweights — having previously collaborated with Kendrick Lamar and Kanye West — lends his iconic voice to the chorus: “The time of our lives / The time of our youth / We bow down to beauty and truth / These are the days.”
Tha Carter VI marks Lil Wayne’s first solo album in five years and the first addition to his acclaimed Tha Carter series since 2018. The 19-track project boasts an eclectic lineup of guest appearances that span multiple genres.
Hip Hop features include 2 Chainz, Kodak Black, Machine Gun Kelly, and Big Sean. However, the album also takes listeners into new sonic territory with appearances from opera legend Andrea Bocelli, country star Jelly Roll, and Fugees icon Wyclef Jean.
Fans had hoped for a long-awaited reunion between Wayne, Drake, and Nicki Minaj on the album, but no track featuring the iconic Young Money trio made the final cut.
The album’s release follows Wayne’s recent praise of Eminem, whom he called his Hip Hop “quarterback” in an interview on April 30, 2025. Wayne also continues to push forward with his label Young Money, recently unveiling a new roster of talent during an episode of his Young Money Radio show on Apple Music. The refreshed lineup includes Jay Jones, Allan Cubas, Domiio, Poppy, and Lucifena. Longtime Young Money artists Lil Twist, Cory Gunz, and Euro remain with the label as well.
Interestingly, none of Young Money’s current roster appear on Tha Carter VI.
To celebrate the release, Lil Wayne will perform his first-ever headline solo concert at New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden tonight (June 6), before embarking on a nationwide tour later this year.
Tha Carter VI showcases Wayne’s ability to evolve while honoring his legacy. With bold features and a mix of sounds, the project positions the rap legend firmly at the center of the modern music landscape — reminding the world that even after two decades, Weezy still has plenty to say.
