Doechii Celebrates Historic Grammy Win With Kanye-Inspired Track “Nosebleeds”
Doechii capped off a monumental night at the 2025 Grammy Awards with the release of her new track, Nosebleeds, a song that pays homage to a legendary Kanye West moment. Dropped just hours after her historic Best Rap Album win for Alligator Bites Never Heal, the Tampa native put her own twist on Kanye’s iconic 2005 Grammys acceptance speech for The College Dropout.
“I don’t know, is she gonna go crazy? Is she gonna go crazy? / Errbody wanted to know what Doechii would do if she didn’t win / I guess we’ll never—,” Doechii raps over the thumping, shape-shifting production, echoing Kanye’s unforgettable quip: “Everybody wanted to know what I would do if I didn’t win… I guess we’ll never know.”
The nod to Kanye felt fitting as Doechii became only the third female artist in history to win Best Rap Album, joining Lauryn Hill (1997, with The Fugees) and Cardi B (2019). In her acceptance speech, Doechii honored her predecessors, saying:
“This category was introduced in 1989, and two women—three women—have won: Lauryn Hill, Cardi B, and Doechii. I put my heart and soul into this mixtape. I bared my life. I dedicated myself to sobriety, and God told me that I would be rewarded and that He would show me just how good it can get. I have to thank God.”
Doechii’s speech was an emotional moment of gratitude and empowerment. She thanked her mother, her fans, her label TDE, and everyone who contributed to the mixtape before addressing Black women directly:
“I know that there is some Black girl out there, so many Black women out there, that are watching me right now and I want to tell you, you can do it. Anything is possible. Don’t allow anybody to project any stereotypes on you that tell you you can’t be here, that you’re too dark, or you’re not smart enough, or you’re too dramatic, or you’re too loud. You are exactly who you need to be to be right where you are, and I am a testimony.”
Her powerful words were matched by an electrifying performance during the ceremony, where she delivered a medley of Catfish and Denial Is a River. With theatrical choreography and unmatched stage presence, Doechii solidified herself as a force to be reckoned with in both rap and entertainment.
Nosebleeds serves as both a celebration and a statement, showing Doechii’s ability to bridge the past and present of hip-hop. The song’s release highlights her deep respect for the genre’s history while affirming her place in its future.
With her Grammy win, Doechii has joined an elite group of artists who have reshaped the landscape of rap, and her inspiring journey ensures that her star will only continue to rise. Fans now eagerly await her next moves, including her highly anticipated debut album, set to drop next year.
