Fat Joe Reveals How Scott Storch Blew $90 Million on Drugs, Cars, and Lavish Gifts
On an episode of Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, Fat Joe opened up about how Scott Storch, once one of the most successful producers in hip-hop, squandered his fortune. Sharpe asked Fat Joe how Storch, who was as big or bigger than Dr. Dre at one point, ended up filing for bankruptcy in 2015. “You use a lot of drugs, and he admits it,” Joe explained. “This ain’t me talking behind his back. Drugs messed him up. … People don’t act crazy in front of me. So whenever I hung out with Scott Storch, because he’s my brother, they wouldn’t use drugs, no cocaine, nothing. Scott told me that as soon as I walked out, a kilo of cocaine would come flying in, like it was raining coke.”
Fat Joe revealed that Storch blew through $90 million and was “generous with women.” He recalled a moment at a strip club in Houston when a woman approached him, flaunting jewelry that Storch had gifted her. “She had a rock so big,” Joe said. “I was like, ‘Man, I almost wanted to rob this girl.’ He was buying girls Rolls-Royces.”
Although Fat Joe described Storch as incredibly talented, he pointed to Storch’s spending habits during his peak as a major problem. He recalled seeing Storch casually spend $2 million on a Bugatti or another high-end car, treating it like a routine purchase.
“I never use drugs because I might like it,” Joe continued. He shared a story about Storch being involved with two of the most famous women in the world at the same time. “One of them threw cocaine on the other girl and said, ‘You wanna get this going?’ Storch sniffed the cocaine off her, and from that moment, he said, things were never the same. … He ended up ruining his life with that.”
From the mid-90s to the mid-2000s, Storch was a dominant force in hip-hop and R&B, producing five Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles for artists like Beyoncé, Mario, Chris Brown, and 50 Cent. In a 2009 interview with MTV News, Storch’s friend Derek Jackson revealed that he burned through $30 million in just six months due to his drug addiction.
