Following The Weeknd’s release of his classic mixtape House Of Balloons in 2011, the Toronto hit maker set the stage to become the global superstar he is today. The 9 track mixtape paved the way for in a new R&B sound that would later find its way into the pop world with the singer’s subsequent releases.

With the tenth anniversary of the groundbreaking mixtape fast approaching, The Weeknd is set to bless his fanbase with a special gift by dropping House of Balloons on streaming platforms for the first time. The “Blinding Lights” hit maker will unleash the mixtape Sunday (March 21), 10 years after the initial release date. The mixtape will reportedly be coming in its original form which includes all its original samples.

To add some flavor to the much anticipated drop, The Weeknd will also dish out exclusive merchandise to celebrate the anniversary. One of the merchandise drop’s key pieces will feature a collabo with Daniel Arsham who also remixed the iconic cover art. 1,000 limited-edition House of Balloons vinyl will also form part of the drop. Fans will be allowed to purchase on The Weeknd’s online store on 21st March at 3 p.m. EST for 48 hours only.

“The summer of 2011 will always be marked by House of Balloons,” Arsham announced in a statement. “Like a time travel device, the album transports me back to that specific moment in time every time I listen. It is a great privilege to work with The Weeknd and the XO team to reimagine the iconic album art of House of Balloons as an eroded sculpture for the 10-year anniversary.”

Despite being snubbed by the Grammys this year, The Weeknd has a lot to celebrate. The singer continues to receive platinum plaques one year after his latest studio album release, After Hours.
