Jay-Z Shares His Taste With New “MARCH 4” Playlist

Jay-Z Shares His Taste With New “MARCH 4” Playlist! Jay-Z is certainly one of the most influential rappers of all time, so much so that a co-sign from him can go a long way in elevating an upcoming artist. Jay-Z’s playlists have become a new favorite for TIDAL subscribers, providing a deeper insight into his musical tastes. While the general tendency is usually to add a new playlist at the end of every year, the rapper came through to celebrate his massive new deal with Square Inc, who have officially acquired a majority share in TIDAL, by introducing the MARCH 4 playlist.

Featuring a blend of older and newer tunes, Jay-Z’s new playlist kicks off with the title track off Nipsey Hussle‘s Victory Lap. It’s then followed by one of his wife’s arguably best songs in “Haunted,” while his own posse cut featuring Meek Mill and Rick Ross “What’s Free” is lined up next. There’s also a track from his Watch The Throne counterpart in “Can’t Tell Me Nothin,” an instrumental that he himself might have bodied in another life. With the majority being made up of hip-hop tunes, Jay-Z  also slides in a David Bowie classic in “Fame,” which clearly adds a bit of thematic value to the playlist.

Jay-Z’s fans will remember the Blueprint 2 disc one closer “My Way,” so it shouldn’t come as a surprise to see him bring Frank Sinatra’s “Come Fly With Me” into the mix. He also makes sure he throws in one of his most notable ghostwritten classics, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg‘s “Still D.R.E.”

There’s clearly a lot to unpack from the Hov’s new playlist, but for longtime fans of the legendary rapper, getting glimpses into the songs that shape his tastes is fulfilling in itself. Be sure to check out the TIDAL exclusive MARCH 4 playlist below.
