Meek Mill Denies Allegations of Being Kidnapped by L.A. Crips for Ransom

Meek Mill’s reputation has often been a lightning rod for controversy, and the rapper can’t seem to catch a break these days. Recently, he found himself at the center of an explosive claim made by Luce Cannon, a music figure who alleged that Meek was kidnapped by members of the L.A. Crips and held for ransom a few years back. Cannon’s account suggested that Rick Ross was forced to pay $50K for Meek’s release, a story that quickly caught fire online.
The rumor spread like wildfire, and Meek Mill didn’t take kindly to the accusation. On Tuesday night, the rapper took to his social media to respond, calling Cannon’s story false and accusing him of trying to manipulate the situation for his own gain.
“This guy must be using a story to confuse his indictment,” Meek said in a tweet. “I never seen him B4. I woulda put him to ‘gods test’ on the spot.” Meek firmly denied any involvement with Cannon or the alleged kidnapping and emphasized that he would never allow himself to be a pawn in a negotiation, especially not one involving fake thugs. “I never even met buddy but I don’t ‘negotiate’ with fake thugs,” he added. “Ask him what chain because all my chains some sh*t lol watches all 300k up vibes.”
Luce Cannon, speaking to Off Record host DJ Akademiks, claimed that Meek was targeted due to his “real reckless” behavior on Twitter, which allegedly led to the kidnapping incident. Ironically, Meek took to Twitter himself to mount a defense, directly addressing Cannon’s claims.
The rapper then went on a rant about his status in Los Angeles, explaining that he has a deep respect for the city and its people. “It’s a real world real LA n**gas that respect the sh*t out me,” Meek said. “How I carry myself in an open arms way to build my people up ion care where you from. That’s why you seen me around NIPSEY and others. Men of respect and honor.” He also pointed out his positive relationships with West Coast artists like Mustard and YG, reinforcing that his presence in Los Angeles has never been about drama or criminal activity.
Meek made a point of reminding people that he, along with artists like Nipsey Hussle, YG, and Mustard, had worked hard to reject the divisive East Coast/West Coast narrative that had once plagued hip-hop. “ME NIPSEY YG MUSTARD AND FEW OTHERS MADE SURE WE DIDN’T FOLLOW THE EAST COAST [and] WEST COAST narrative,” he tweeted. “I changed my life by blessings. But I always been down to meet up with ‘fake street bully’s’ in abandon areas where it’s no civilians and take they heart.”
While Meek received support from many of his fans, others were quick to point out the timing of his criticism. Some noted that Meek only chose to publicly call out Cannon after he had been arrested, raising questions about his motives. Fans couldn’t help but point out the irony of Meek using social media to defend himself against accusations that allegedly stemmed from his own online behavior.
The incident only adds to the long list of challenges Meek Mill has faced in the public eye. Known for his outspoken personality and history of legal issues, Meek has consistently been a target for criticism. Despite the ongoing drama, he remains steadfast in his defense of his character, continuing to use his platform to speak out against false narratives and to promote the positive relationships he’s built over the years.
