Megan Thee Stallion hasn’t been in the game for a long time but the Houston hottie has definitely made quite an impact on the game at large.It was just a matter of time before her debut album  Good News, went platinum catapulted by challenge-friendly singles “Body” and “Cry Baby.” Though some people are hesitant to award her the flowers she so deserves, it’s impossible to deny the fact that she comes out as someone who will definitely be in the game for a while.

Megan recently opened up about some of her rap game ambitions, in a recent interview wants to be “up there with the OGs” of female rap. Speaking about her career path in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the rapper had the following to say; “I feel like when it’s all said and done when people want to talk about female rap, they are definitely going to have to put my name up there with the OGs,”. When asked about the possibility of pursuing a more pop-focused direction, she quickly puts down that narrative. ““I’m a rapper,” she says. “Rap will always be my heart. That’s really what I love to do.” 

Now Megan’s comment while interviewing for Harper’s Bazaar March issue isn’t sitting pretty with some rap fans, who think she might be getting a little ahead of herself. A clip of the interview made rounds on Twitter on Friday (February 19.

As several fans opined, Megan’s only album Good News, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop chart and No. 2 on the Billboard 200 last November. They also noted that the only time she’s been “at the top” was when she nabbed her first No. 1 Hot 100 single with Beyoncé in April 2020, which means she hasn’t been in the game long enough to even be considered being an OG in the running.

Twitter comments clowning Megan’s not only came in fast and furious but were also relentless. Someone on twitter said, “She isn’t OG, She can’t even do a single without a collab. She trying to get relevant,” while another said, “This girl has released three projects in the space of 4yrs and they haven’t even crossed 4m combined, like what?”
