Rapper MF Doom Honored In Chicago! Even though Rapper MF Doom may be gone, he will forever remain in the hearts of many of his fans. His fans have left nothing to chance in ensuring the British-American rapper who died in October 2020 remains a living memory.
At the age of 49, MF Doom’s death unexpectedly ended his prolific music career and took the global hip-hop community by surprise.
Less than a month after learning about news of his transition, die-hard fans have created a series of paintings that will stand in remembrance of his phenomenal contribution to the culture.
The series is situated in Logan Square Chicago, near the train tracks at Fullerton and Milwaukee avenues – stretching over a couple of buildings.
This historic neighborhood is a cultural haven for the activist and the artist; just the perfect environment to dedicate a legacy of his life.
Local artists in Chicago joined in to commemorate the artist’s spirit with the murals. James Spurgeon, aka the Graffiti Nerd, is among the artists that worked on the masterpiece and shared it with BlockClubChicago.com. He knew that MF Doom was into the sometimes forgotten element of Hip-Hop, graffiti. Thus, it was an honor for him to participate.
“He was one of us,” Spurgeon said. “It’s kinda like one of our brothers passed away, so we just had to do a memorial for him.”
