Cardi B’s Single “Up” Is Now Platinum

Cardi B’s Single “Up” Is Now Platinum! Cardi B’s commercial prowess has hit new heights, yet the Bronx rapper hasn’t even released her much anticipated sophomore album yet. Meanwhile in an attempt to keep her fans entertained Cardi B has dropped a pair of singles from her forthcoming project namely, the controversial Megan Thee Stallion-assisted “WAP,” and now her latest release “Up.” While “WAP” has received backlash in the past owing to its explicit content, the single has proven to be a runaway hit. Following in WAP’s footsteps, “Up” seems destined to reach greater heights.

Though ‘Up’ lacks much of “WAP’s” overtly sexual allure, the banger has clearly made it’s impression already, after going platinum slightly over a month after it was released. This is certainly an impressive feat, and it further proves Cardi B to be a commercial juggernaut. As it stands, Cardi B becomes the proud recipient of 31 RIAA certifications in addition to one Diamond plaque for “Bodak Yellow,” that she recently received. That said, Cardi B’s “I Like It” and “WAP” will likely rise to become diamond status in the near future.

Soon after her performance of her hit single “WAP,” at this year’s 63rd Grammy Awards, The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) lashed out at the Grammys for what it believed to be a particularly racy pole-dancing performance by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion for their hit single ‘WAP’.

It is clear that, Cardi  B appears to elicit strong opinions from her fans and haters alike, a quality that has been instrumental to elavating her rampant success. Cardi will definitely be looking at another spate of gold and platinum plaques to add to her already expansive collection should her sophomore album indeed arrive this year as expected.
