Proof’s Music Finally Under Estate Control Ahead of STANS Documentary Soundtrack

Proof has long been regarded as one of hip-hop’s most underrated MCs. He is best known for his work alongside Eminem, frequently dropping freestyles together on radio stations across Detroit. Both were members of D12, the Eminem-led group that achieved significant success before disbanding following Proof’s tragic death in 2006.
For years, Proof’s estate faced challenges in securing control of his music. Nearly two decades later, that has finally changed. Detroit hip-hop figure and Proof’s brother-in-law, Mark Hicks, confirmed that Proof’s wife, Sharonda, and his children now have full control of his estate. Hicks shared on Instagram, “In this last year FINALLY Proof’s wife & his children have control of his estate so now enjoy his only official album Searching For Jerry Garcia, his compilations I Miss The Hip-Hop Shop and Grown Man S**t on streaming sites + YouTube.”
Hicks also revealed that two new tracks from Proof and D12 will appear on the soundtrack for the STANS documentary, which releases on August 26. The documentary, which had a limited theatrical run in early August, will be available on Paramount+ the same day. Preorders for the physical version of the soundtrack, including vinyl, went live on July 16, giving dedicated fans multiple ways to access the new and unreleased music.
Eminem’s online store confirmed that the soundtrack would feature previously unreleased material. Hicks’ statement suggests that fans can expect entirely new tracks rather than just polished versions of songs that have circulated unofficially. This development marks a significant moment for Proof’s legacy, giving longtime fans access to music that has never been heard publicly.
With the estate finally settled and new material coming to light, Proof’s influence and talent are poised to reach both old and new audiences. The release of the STANS documentary soundtrack offers a fresh opportunity to celebrate his contributions to hip-hop alongside Eminem and D12.
