Pop Smoke Receives Multiple New Posthumous Platinum Certifications! The Hip-hop industry suffered suffered a huge loss February last year when the late Brooklyn rapper met his death in Los Angeles during a home invasion robbery. Recognized as one of the most popular stars in Brooklyn’s drill scene, Pop Smoke helped elevate Brooklyn drill music to new heights besides reigniting New York City’s rap scene.

Even after more than a year following his demise, Pop Smoke’s talent is still being felt, as he continues to be one of music’s most popular artists. The late rapper has now earned an impressive 6 platinum RIAA certifications for a number of his posthumous hits. 

Last week,  Pop’s singles—“Dior,” “What You Know Bout Love,” “The Woo,”  “For The Night,” “Hello,” and “Something Special” received new RIAA certifications

“Hello” and “Something Special” became the latest records from Pop’s posthumous debut album, Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon, to earn a platinum plaque. These hit records are an addition to  “What You Know Bout Love” and “The Woo” featuring Roddy Ricch and 50 Cent which are officially  double platinum-selling singles. 

The success of these records has been critical for the album’s standout tracks to achieve their new certifications. “For The Night,” featuring Lil Baby and DaBaby, is now four-times platinum while, “Dior,”one of Pop’s breakthrough mainstream tune is now three-times platinum.  Along with the new certifications, “Dior” also earned  Grammy nomination. “Dior” unfortunately lost the Best Rap Performance award to Megan Thee Stallion and Beyoncé’s “Savage.”

“Something Special” has also managed to rack up more than 1 million copies, despite it not being officially released as a single. According to Pop Smoke’s label, more posthumous work is still on the way, which will eventually see the late rapper earn even more certifications.
