Cardi B’s New Single Goes “Up” As It Debuts At No. 2 On Billboard Hot 100 Chart

Cardi B’s New Single Goes “Up” As It Debuts At No.  2 On Billboard Hot 100 Chart! Cardi B has every reason to celebrate as her newest single “Up” debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The Invasion of Privacy emcee took to Twitter Tuesday (Feb. 16) to celebrate the big news. “Just landed and my wifi back poppin,” she said in a tweet. “I want to say thank you to all my fans and supporters. This is BIG for me. I wanted to beat my last solo single number & I over succeeded. First time a female rapper debut top 5 since Lauren. This is pop girl shit, but I’m not pop.”

The rapper admitted that she was emotional last week after seeing criticism on social media about her music career.

“At the beginning of last week, I was crying because one single post put my confidence down,” she wrote. “‘She needs promo, she’s a flop, she needs help’ — erasing the fact I been constantly winning. I had to brush it off, remind myself I beat records with my last record & now boom. Chart too high.”

As per Chart Data, “Up” has become Cardi’s 9th top 10 single on the Hot 100 chart. In addition, the track also marks the highest debut for a solo female rap song since Lauryn Hill hit No. 1 in 1998. The single is the second-biggest debut of 2021, so far.

Since it was released on Feb. 5, the song has accumulated over 31 million streams, 14 million in airplay audience while 37,000 digital and physical copies have been sold. “Up” was also this week’s No. 1 with regards to Digital Song Sales and Streaming Songs as well as becoming  No. 1 on both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs chart.

Standing in the way of “Up” was Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License.” The track has been top of the chart for the fifth week now. Following The Weeknd’s epic Super Bowl performance, “Blinding Lights,” rose to No. 3 on the chart followed by “Save Your Tears” at No. 4.  The Weeknd’s double appearance and Cardi’s new single joins Pop Smoke’s smash “What You Know Bout Love” that made its way back into the top 10 from No. 13 to No. 10.

Congratulations are in order to Cardi on the success of her new single!
