Nicki Minaj Shatters Another Record With “Anaconda” Video!

Nicki Minaj Shatters Another Record With “Anaconda” Video! Following the recently concluded Grammy Awards ceremony, a conversation surrounding Nicki Minaj and her legacy was reignited. The most notable was Joe Budden who recently set aside his longstanding beef with Nicki Minaj to announce that she deserves to be given her credit by major institutions in the industry like The Recording Academy for her musical accomplishments. Going by her lack of Grammy awards, it goes without saying that credit has yet to be given to the ‘Megatron’ rapper. Nevertheless, the numbers do speak for themselves, though, and the rapper has just achieved yet another never-before reached impressive milestone.

According to updated data from Youtube confirmed by chart data aggregate source chart data, Nicki Minaj’s video for her 2014 single “Anaconda” off her third studio album The Pinkprint has just surpassed 1 billion views on Youtube. This becomes her 6th video including as a featured artist to surpass this threshold. The video becomes the first by a solo female rapper to achieve this.

At the time of its release, the video for “Anaconda” had huge impact on pop culture. The video broke the 24-hour Vevo streaming record by accumulating 19.6 million views in its first day and Nicki Minaj found herself on the receiving end with backlash for the raunchy derriere-filled visual. Some even described her as “desperate” to sell records. The video would later be ranked by Billboard as the 13th greatest video of the decade

Commenting about the first lady of Young Money, Joe Budden spoke for many other rappers in the game. “Nicki Minaj needs her flowers. Whoever the Grammy board is, whoever’s on there, y’all are not the one’s that get to determine that Nicki Minaj and all of her impact and influence don’t get to win an award. I’m sorry,” Budden declared on his podcast.

Congratulations are in order to Nicki for achieving this impressive feat.
