Ab-Soul Reveals ‘Soul Burger’ Tracklist Featuring Lupe Fiasco, Vince Staples, Doechii & More
Ab-Soul is ready to serve up his latest musical offering with Soul Burger, a deeply personal album that’s packed with features from some of hip-hop’s most respected voices. With the tracklist announced on Tuesday, November 5, ahead of its release this Friday, the album promises 15 tracks that showcase Ab-Soul’s signature lyrical intensity alongside contributions from Lupe Fiasco, Vince Staples, Doechii, JID, Ty Dolla $ign, and Blxst, among others.
The project also includes a particularly poignant feature: a posthumous appearance from Ab-Soul’s late friend, Armon “Doe Burger” Stringer, who passed away in 2021. Soul Burger is both a tribute to his friend and a creative venture into new territory. Ab-Soul shared in a recent interview with DJ Hed that Doe Burger’s influence was instrumental in shaping the album. “The idea came to fruition after [Doe Burger’s] transition, and it’s just something that was very important for me to do,” he explained. “I don’t even know how I’m really still doing this without him.”
Ab-Soul emphasizes that this album represents a fusion of himself and Doe Burger, reflected in the album title and his own transformation for the project. He shared that he’s been channeling Doe’s spirit in his music and even changed his personal style—donning jewelry and getting his hair braided in Doe Burger’s honor.
The tracklist includes collaborations like “California Dream” with Vince Staples, “I, Myself & Me” featuring Doechii, “Crazier” with JID, and “Peace,” which brings together Lupe Fiasco, Doe Burger, and TDE’s Punch. Each track aims to capture Ab-Soul’s emotional journey and his commitment to pushing boundaries as an artist. The song titles themselves hint at his creative explorations, with tracks like “9 Mile,” “Go Pro” featuring Ty Dolla $ign, and “The Sky is Limitless” featuring Blxst and Asia Holiday.
In discussing Soul Burger, Ab-Soul made it clear that he views this album as a departure from his previous works. “It’s not an Ab-Soul project; it’s a Soul Burger project,” he said. “I recommend everybody listen to it in terms of that.” This album represents his sixth studio effort and follows 2022’s critically acclaimed Herbert, marking a new era in his artistry.
Soul Burger is set to drop on November 8, and with its dynamic collaborations and deeply personal theme, it’s expected to resonate with fans old and new as Ab-Soul continues to evolve as an artist.
