Jay-Z And D’Ussé Set To Auction Rare Cognac Bottle For Charity
Jay-Z And D’Ussé Set To Auction Rare Cognac Bottle For Charity! Rapper and entrepreneur Jay-Z has fully embraced a billionaire mindset, consistently advancing his status through a chain of serious money moves. The legendary rapper recently, partnered with Moët Hennessy, with the intention to promote his “Ace Of Spades” champagne brand into a household name.
The deal attracted widespread commendation from the rap community, with artists like Dr. Dre and DJ Khaled celebrating Jay’s visionary mindset with congratulatory messages through social media.
The legendary rapper is back at it again with yet another new development, this time partnering with Sotheby’s to auction off an spectacularly rare bottle of Dussé – entirely for purposes of charity.
The bottle in context is the first-ever bottle of Dussé’s Grande Champagne Cognac, aged for decades at the storied Château de Cognac in France. Currently, only 280 bottles are available, each numbered with an inscription for purposes of tracking. For purposes of the auction, Dussé is bringing out the number 1 bottle, a fullproof collector’s item for the wealthy virtuoso. Emphasis is on wealthy, as the bottle’s estimated value sits between $25,000 and $75,000 according to a report by Complex.
“When our Cellar Master, Michel Casavecchia, discovered the aged liquid at the Château de Cognac and explained how truly one of a kind it is, it was important to me to honor it by doing something that would celebrate its singularity,” explained Jay-Z, through an official press release. “Once that barrel is emptied, there’s no way the liquid can be recreated. The whole process behind the 1969 Anniversaire collection reminded me why I got involved in the spirits industry in the first place–to create something that will stand the test of time.”
The auction is slated to take place on Sotheby’s official website here, happening on March 1st at 9 AM EST. All proceeds go to Jay-Z’s Shawn Carter Foundation. Whoever racks up the rare piece will not only note the presence on the bottle’s neck of 24-karat gold foil but also a signature from part-owner Jay-Z. The highest bidder will be declared on March 13 as part of Sotheby’s Finest & Rarest Spirits sale. The rest of the bottles in the collection will retail in select cities at $10,000 each this summer.
