Offset Faces Career and Legal Setbacks Following the Release of “Haunted by Fame”

Offset’s latest project, Haunted by Fame, has struggled to make an impact despite arriving just months after his third solo album, Kiari. The new release, which dropped in late October just in time for Halloween, came as a surprise to fans after being announced only days before its debut.
The 13-track album features collaborations with NBA YoungBoy, Lil Dump, and NoCap, but early sales numbers show a significant decline in listener engagement. According to industry tracker Kurrco, Haunted by Fame failed to enter this week’s Billboard Hot 100 and moved fewer than 8,000 units in its first week.
In comparison, Kiari opened with roughly 29,000 units earlier this year, highlighting a steep drop in momentum. Analysts suggest the album’s poor performance may be linked to limited promotion and a crowded release calendar, which made it difficult to generate strong visibility.
Offset, born Kiari Kendrell Cephus, has been navigating more than just disappointing sales figures. His personal life continues to dominate headlines following his separation from rapper Cardi B. Earlier this month, rumors circulated that Cardi B had offered Offset a $10 million divorce settlement, which he allegedly declined.
Offset quickly denied the claims on Instagram, calling them “false rumors” and urging the public to stop spreading misinformation. “Stop running a hate campaign. None of this is true,” he commented, pushing back against the viral speculation.
Legal troubles have also added pressure to the rapper’s situation. A security guard named Jim Sanchez filed a lawsuit against Offset, accusing him of assault during an altercation at the MedMen LAX marijuana dispensary in Los Angeles. Sanchez claims the rapper punched him in the face, causing injuries that required medical attention and forced him to miss work.
Sanchez is seeking over $25,000 in punitive, general, and special damages. Offset denies the allegations, asserting that he and his team were maced during the incident. He has not made a public statement regarding the lawsuit beyond his legal filings.
Despite the setbacks, Offset remains one of hip-hop’s most recognizable figures. His last major album, Kiari, received praise for its production and emotional depth, showing a more reflective side of the rapper. Whether Haunted by Fame can recover through word-of-mouth or future promotion remains to be seen, but the project’s quiet rollout and weak numbers mark one of the most challenging moments of Offset’s solo career so far.
