Kendrick Lamar’s Success Continues as “Luther” Tops Charts and Tour Breaks Records

It has been a dominant run for Kendrick Lamar, and the momentum is only growing. Forbes reports that his collaboration with SZA, “Luther,” has reclaimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs chart. The track pushed past BigXthaPlug’s “I Hope You’re Happy” featuring Bailey Zimmerman, which had held the top position.

“Luther” is also one of the most popular tracks of the summer. Billboard ranked it No. 5 on its Songs of the Summer list, placing it behind Alex Warren’s “Ordinary,” Morgan Wallen and Tate McRae’s “What I Want,” and other major hits.

Kendrick’s wins are not limited to the charts. Earlier this month, he received an Emmy award for Outstanding Music Direction, an honor he shared with musical director Tony Russell. The award recognized their work on the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show, which Kendrick headlined alongside SZA. This marked his second Emmy. The halftime performance broke records, drawing 133.5 million viewers, making it the most-watched in NFL history. It also earned nominations for choreography, directing, and live variety special.

His global dominance extends to touring as well. The “Grand National” tour, which Kendrick co-headlined with SZA until recently, has already set records. By June, it was named the highest grossing co-headlining tour ever, generating $256.4 million in revenue. Stops included major cities in Europe and the U.K., such as Cologne, Amsterdam, Paris, and London, with sold-out shows across the board.

Kendrick is now gearing up for the South American leg of the tour, though SZA will not be part of this stretch. Over the next two months, he will perform in Mexico City, Bogotá, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, and Santiago. In December, the tour will close in Australia, with scheduled shows in Melbourne and Sydney.

With chart-topping singles, industry awards, and a record-breaking tour, Kendrick Lamar continues to solidify his place as one of the most influential artists of this generation. His ability to dominate music, live performance, and television makes it clear his reign is far from over.
