JID Set to Drop God Does Like Ugly This Friday With Hidden Features

August is shaping up to be another big month for hip-hop, and JID is a major reason why. Fans have been waiting since 2022’s The Forever Story, a project many consider one of the best rap albums of the decade. Now, the Georgia rapper is returning with his fourth studio album, God Does Like Ugly, and expectations are high.

JID has spent the lead-up to the release in top form, delivering sharp, aggressive verses on features and solo tracks. On the album’s lead single “WRK,” he spits, “You couldn’t even stop my drive if it were 1955 / And I’m on 85, doing ninety-five in a 1952 Dodge.” His collaboration with Offset, “Bodies,” showcases an even harder edge: “N****s bein’ funny, we can put ’em in a red shirt / Five in your chest like you Ant-Man Edwards (Let’s go).”

That same intensity is expected to carry into God Does Like Ugly, which drops August 8. The album will feature 15 tracks, but in a twist, JID has decided to hide all guest features for now. Artists like Kanye West, Travis Scott, and The Weeknd have used the same approach to keep listeners guessing until release day.

Adding another surprise, JID revealed he will follow up the album with an extra track titled “Sun” on August 11, complete with a music video. This mirrors his move on The Forever Story, where he later added the song “2007” post-release.

With no features listed, a packed tracklist, and his creative momentum at a peak, God Does Like Ugly is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated hip-hop releases of the summer. Fans will find out Friday if JID can match or even surpass the standard he set in 2022.
