Drake’s “What Did I Miss?” Slips to No. 8 on Billboard Hot 100 Amid Growing Buzz for ‘Iceman’ Album

Drake’s latest single, “What Did I Miss?”, is beginning to lose its early chart momentum, dropping six spots to No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. While the track made a strong debut at No. 2 just last week, it now finds itself trailing behind several heavy hitters, including Alex Warren’s “Ordinary,” Justin Bieber’s “Daisies,” and Morgan Wallen & Tate McRae’s “What I Want.” The only songs the Toronto rapper managed to edge out this time are Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control” and the unlikely duo of Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars with their emotional ballad, “Die With a Smile.”
Despite the drop, “What Did I Miss?” remains a key focus for Drake fans, serving as the lead single from his upcoming and much-hyped ninth studio album, Iceman. The track was released on July 5, immediately sparking discussion with its sharp lyrical jabs and cryptic references. In one standout line, Drake appears to call out NBA stars DeMar DeRozan and LeBron James, referencing their recent appearance at Kendrick Lamar’s Pop Out concert. “I saw bro went to Pop Out with them, but been dick riding gang since ‘Headlines’,” he raps — a line many see as a direct shot in the aftermath of last year’s explosive feud with Lamar.
With Iceman on the horizon, anticipation continues to build. Drake has been strategically feeding fans breadcrumbs about the album for months now. During a recent stop on his international tour in Birmingham, England, he teased the crowd, saying, “You know I’m working on my album, Iceman. We got a lot to talk about, so I’m looking forward to it.” While he hasn’t locked in an official release date, the rapper confirmed it will drop before the end of 2025, making it his first solo studio effort since 2023’s For All the Dogs.
Earlier this year, Drake also surprised fans with the collaborative EP Some Sexy Songs 4 U alongside longtime OVO collaborator PartyNextDoor, but it’s Iceman that’s poised to define his next major musical chapter.
Away from the music, Drake is still tied up in a legal battle with Universal Music Group. The rapper filed a defamation lawsuit, accusing the label of deliberately pushing Kendrick Lamar’s diss track, “Not Like Us,” in an effort to damage his public image. The track includes scathing lines such as, “Certified Lover Boy? Certified pedophiles,” and “Tryna strike a chord and it’s probably A minor,” which Drake and his team argue were promoted to cause reputational harm.
With “What Did I Miss?” still making waves on streaming services and the Iceman album rollout picking up steam, Drake continues to dominate headlines — even when he’s not topping the chart. As always with The Boy, it’s not just about the numbers — it’s about the conversation.
