Max B Reflects on Feud with Jim Jones, Ready to Move Forward from Prison

Max B, the Harlem rapper known for his turbulent past and long-standing feud with Jim Jones, is signaling a desire to put the past behind him. Recently, Max B called into the popular podcast Drink Champs from Northern State Prison in New Jersey, offering fans an update on his life while serving his sentence and sharing a new perspective on his old beef with Jones.
“Listen, Jim said a bunch of hard sht about me. So, we all say hard sht about each other, okay?” Max B said, according to Complex. “Jim done wished me dead, all type of sh*t. It’s all good. Listen, man. It’s love, man. I want to start over. I’m a new man. I’m a married man. I got four kids.”
Max B spoke candidly about how incarceration has reshaped his outlook on life and his priorities.
“Like, I’m on a whole different time right now, my n**a. I’m out here to get my money and ride out the sunset with this sht,” he explained. “It’s in there for me, though. I’m gonna tell you that. So that’s the goal.”
Though he is ready to move past his history with Jim Jones, Max B made it clear he does not regret the differences they had. To him, the conflicts were part of his personal journey and growth.
“At the end of the day, we all grow,” he said. “We overcome, man. We all got responsibilities. It’s time to elevate. Time to build. You know what I’m saying? It’s time to get ready to pass this sh*t down to the young man, the young man’s world.”
Max B’s story has been a difficult one. In 2009, he was sentenced to 75 years in prison after being convicted of felony murder, armed robbery, and other charges. However, after accepting a plea deal, his sentence was reduced to 20 years. He is now scheduled for release on November 9 of this year.
As Max B looks toward the future, fans and observers alike are watching closely to see what his next chapter will bring—both in terms of his personal life and his legacy in hip-hop. For now, the rapper’s message is clear: it’s time to grow, forgive, and build for the next generation.
