Drake and French Montana Put Past Beef Behind Them as “Iceman” Album Approaches

With so many rappers publicly clashing with Drake these days, it can be hard to remember who still keeps it friendly with the Canadian superstar. One notable name that’s had a complicated history with Drake is French Montana. Their relationship took a hit back in 2024 during Drake’s “twenty-v-one” era, largely fueled by Rick Ross’s diss track “Champagne Moments.” The MMG boss accused Drake of sending a cease-and-desist letter to French Montana over an upcoming collaboration, sparking tension behind the scenes.

Larry Jackson, CEO of Gamma, later confirmed the cease-and-desist during an interview on the Joe Budden Podcast, making the rumors all but official. Despite the drama, French Montana never publicly fired back at Drake, although insiders say it did cause friction privately. Thankfully, by late November, things appeared to smooth over, with Drake reposting French’s heartfelt Paramount+ documentary For Khadija—a tribute to the Moroccan rapper’s mother—on his Instagram Story.

Since then, however, the two haven’t been openly supportive of each other online. Recently, during an appearance on the Sited Show, French Montana was asked about the ongoing beef between Drake and Rick Ross, partly because French had teamed up with Ross before and was expected to appear at the annual car show. French made a subtle exit, saying, “I’ll be right back. I double-parked my car outside. I’ll be right back.” It was clear he was trying to avoid being caught in the middle and risking damage to his friendships with both artists.

Instead, fans were treated to a positive sign when French Montana was spotted hanging out with Drake during a Kick livestream, as captured by Akademiks TV. The pair enjoyed some downtime playing roulette on Stake, a popular online casino platform. The vibe was light and fun, culminating in nearly $12 million in winnings. The two cheered and laughed throughout, signaling a renewed bond and maybe even the rekindling of their creative partnership.

This reconciliation could pave the way for a future collaboration on Drake’s upcoming solo album Iceman, which he hinted at recently. Late last week, Drake shared an Instagram carousel revealing the album’s title and a possible 2025 release. One image featured the words carved into wood outside the “Snow Owl Ranch,” where Drake is reportedly recording the project.

Drake and French Montana haven’t collaborated since their 2018 hit “No Stylist,” but with their friendship mending, fans may get to hear them together again soon. As Iceman takes shape, all eyes will be on what this duo might deliver next.
