DJ Swamp Izzo Teases New Playboi Carti and Drake Collaboration During Live Set

DJ Swamp Izzo, known for his appearances on Playboi Carti’s latest album MUSIC, has just given fans an unexpected sneak peek at a new Carti and Drake collaboration. During one of his recent live sets, Izzo premiered a 34-second snippet of the unreleased track, sparking immediate buzz across social media and fan forums.

The clip featured Drake delivering melodic vocals over a minimalistic trap beat, with lyrics centered around his well-documented affection for Houston women. Notably, Playboi Carti’s voice didn’t appear in the snippet, but insiders and fan speculation confirm that Carti is featured on the full version of the track that Izzo teased.

If the song ever sees an official release, it would mark only the second time Drake and Carti have collaborated in an official capacity. Their first link-up was the fan-favorite track “Pain 1993,” which Drake included on his Dark Lane Demo Tapes in 2020. That project featured a mix of previously leaked tracks and SoundCloud exclusives, making the Carti feature a standout moment for both artists.

Their working relationship has had its share of uncertainty. Carti was originally rumored to appear on the 100 Gecs track “No Face,” but his ad-libs were removed from the final streaming version, leaving fans to speculate about the status of their friendship. Some even wondered if there was tension between the two, especially since Carti has collaborated twice with Drake’s biggest rival in hip hop—adding fuel to fan theories that the relationship between Drake and Carti may be complicated.

Adding another layer to the intrigue, Playboi Carti is currently touring with The Weeknd, another artist with whom Drake has had a historically icy relationship. Carti has been serving as an opener on The Weeknd’s After Hours Til Dawn Tour, which is wrapping up with multiple shows in Canada, including two nights at Toronto’s Rogers Centre in July. The tour, already one of the most lucrative in music history, continues to solidify Carti’s mainstream appeal.

Meanwhile, Drake’s mention of Houston in the snippet comes as no surprise given his long-standing ties to the city. Most recently, he made headlines for appearing onstage with Morgan Wallen during the country singer’s I’m The Problem tour kickoff. The move sparked backlash due to Wallen’s controversial past, but Drake seems unfazed, continuing to tease fans with glimpses of his next solo album, which many believe will be titled ICEMAN.

Whether this new Drake and Carti collaboration will appear on ICEMAN, a future Carti project, or remain just another lost track in hip hop lore remains to be seen. For now, the snippet is doing exactly what it was likely intended to do—keep fans talking and speculating about what’s next for two of the most influential voices in rap.
