Drake and Nicki Minaj Confirmed for Lil Wayne’s ‘Tha Carter VI’ Dropping Tonight

Lil Wayne is set to make a massive return with the release of Tha Carter VI at midnight tonight, and fans are buzzing over the all-star guest list that includes none other than Drake and Nicki Minaj. The long-anticipated project has been shrouded in mystery, but a new report from Sports Illustrated confirms some of the major features fans can expect when the album finally hits streaming platforms.

In addition to his longtime Young Money collaborators, Drake and Nicki Minaj, the project reportedly features an eclectic and high-profile lineup: Machine Gun Kelly (MGK), Miley Cyrus, Young Thug, Andrea Bocelli, Elephant Man, Wyclef Jean, Bono, Kanye West, and even Wayne’s own son, Kameron Carter. The blend of artists from across genres hints at a genre-bending, boundary-pushing effort from the hip-hop icon.

Wayne has yet to unveil the official tracklist, but the teaser campaign is already setting the tone for an album steeped in legacy. On Thursday morning, he released a new commercial that walks fans through his evolution as an artist. The visual tribute shows Wayne posing for the covers of previous albums in the Carter series, with some of his most iconic hits playing in the background. It ends with a snippet of new music from Tha Carter VI, leaving fans eagerly speculating about what’s to come.

Speaking with Rolling Stone back in April, Wayne explained that this album allowed him to explore collaborations in a new way. “If there’s one thing about this album that’s different, it’s me approaching it like, ‘Man, what would I sound like on something with such and such?’” he shared, alluding to the ambitious scope of the project.

To celebrate the album’s release, Lil Wayne will headline a special concert tonight at New York’s legendary Madison Square Garden—his first ever headlining show at the venue. The event kicks off a North American tour celebrating the Carter series, beginning July 30 in Bristow, Virginia, and wrapping up October 2 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Joining him on tour will be Tyga, Belly Gang Kushington, NoCap, and the Hot Boys.

Tha Carter VI marks Wayne’s first solo studio album since 2020’s Funeral, and the first installment in the Carter saga since 2018’s Tha Carter V. The Carter series has produced some of Wayne’s most iconic tracks, including “A Milli,” “6 Foot 7 Foot,” “She Will,” and the chart-topping “Lollipop.”

With an ambitious feature list and a rollout that’s already captivated the hip-hop world, Tha Carter VI is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about rap releases of the year. Fans will only have to wait a few more hours to hear what Lil Wayne has in store.
