Warren G Says Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg Are Giving Him the Silent Treatment: “I Just Want to Be Around”

Tensions are quietly simmering in the West Coast rap world after Warren G, a pivotal figure in the G-Funk movement and longtime collaborator of Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, claimed he’s being left out by his famous peers. In a candid appearance on the Ugly Monkey podcast, the “Regulate” rapper opened up about his fractured relationship with Dre and Snoop—two artists he once stood alongside at the forefront of hip-hop history.

“Snoop and Dre get down and they doing things and it’s no diss to neither one of them or anything like that,” Warren began. “But it’s like, y’all could call Warren to come do a cameo or come hang out or something. I don’t want no money or nothing from nobody, just call me to be around.”

Warren G’s words struck a chord with fans who grew up on the classic sounds of The Chronic, Doggystyle, and his own platinum-certified Regulate… G Funk Era. The revelation is especially poignant considering his close ties to Dr. Dre—Warren is his step-brother—and his role in introducing Snoop Dogg to Dre in the early ’90s.

The rapper shared a particularly disheartening moment during the historic 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show, which featured Dre, Snoop, Eminem, 50 Cent, and Mary J. Blige. Although Snoop invited him to attend the event, Warren says he was denied backstage access—even after calling multiple people for help.

“I was trying to get downstairs, to get down in the back, ’cause I had my son with me and he was home from the NFL,” Warren G said. “I was like, ‘I’m going to take my son down there so he could see Dre and see Snoop and everybody.’ He hadn’t seen them in a long time. I couldn’t even get backstage. I called everybody I knew. Nobody would answer their phones.”

The rapper emphasized that his disappointment wasn’t about being excluded from performing, but about missing the chance to reconnect and share a meaningful moment with his family. “I didn’t give a f*** about performing,” he added. “I just wanted to take my son down there to see all my folks and see everybody.”

Neither Snoop Dogg nor Dr. Dre have publicly responded to Warren G’s comments, though fans have begun speculating on what caused the drift between the longtime collaborators.

This isn’t the first time Warren G has been caught in the middle of drama involving Dre. Last year, he refuted wild claims made by Suge Knight, who alleged on his Collect Call podcast that Dr. Dre physically intimidated Warren during the Death Row era. Warren quickly shut down the story.

“Suge, you right. History would repeat itself, because na you wasn’t the only na in the room,” Warren said in response. “You wasn’t by yourself. It was other people in the room, too. I’m not gonna say no names… So why you on here talking? Let that s*** go, man.”

Despite the recent distance, Warren G’s legacy in West Coast hip-hop remains undeniable. His influence is woven through some of the genre’s most iconic sounds—and his role in shaping Snoop Dogg’s early career is well-documented.

Whether or not reconciliation is possible, Warren G’s words offer a reminder that behind the music, fame, and history are relationships that matter—and sometimes, the call just never comes.
