Freddie Gibbs Calls Out Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR for Allegedly Copying His Style on New Album

Freddie Gibbs has accused Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR of borrowing heavily from his style with their upcoming collaborative album, Some Sexy Songs 4 U (stylized as $ome $exy $ongs 4 U or 4U* for short). The project’s title bears a striking resemblance to Gibbs’ 2022 album, *$oul $old $eparately*, which he also abbreviates as *.

Beyond the title similarities, Gibbs also took issue with the back cover of the album, which features cartoon bunnies—imagery that closely mirrors the “Big Rabbit” mascot he has used for years. The Gary, Indiana rapper didn’t hold back his thoughts, taking to X (formerly Twitter) to express his frustration.

“Damn, they even stole the rabbits too. I’m flattered,” Gibbs wrote, responding to the album’s tracklist reveal. He further capitalized on the moment by referencing his own album, sharing a heart emoji alongside $$$4U and resharing an old parody commercial for $oul $old $eparately.

The ESGN rapper doubled down on his stance by retweeting several posts from fans who called out Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR for allegedly copying his aesthetic.

Despite this latest controversy, Gibbs has yet to directly clash with Drake in the past. However, he has taken inspiration from the Toronto superstar before—most notably in 2021 when he freestyled over Drake’s Champagne Poetry, touching on everything from Kendrick Lamar’s competitive taunts to his own Grammy snub.

This isn’t the first time Gibbs has shared his unfiltered thoughts on Drake. When the feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drizzy heated up last year, Gibbs chimed in with a joke after Kendrick’s infamous Like That lyric: “First of all, Mike ain’t dead,” referencing his hometown hero, Michael Jackson.

As for the latest accusations, neither Drake nor PARTYNEXTDOOR have responded to Gibbs’ claims, but the conversation around $ome $exy $ongs 4 U is already heating up ahead of its Valentine’s Day release. Whether this is just playful banter or the start of a new rap feud remains to be seen.
